New web site for the Regional Finals of the Rose of Tralee

Modus has just launched the 2011 web site for the Regional Finals of the Rose of Tralee (www.roseoftraleeirishregionalfinal.com) on behalf of Laois County Council, kindly supported by Laois Partnership Company.

The site has latest news, about the regional finals, accommodation, programme of events, about the host – Dáithí Ó Sé, finalists photos and biographies, photo gallery and contact information.

The wonderful scent of Roses will emanate from Portlaoise next weekend when the Co Laois town hosts the Regional Finals of the Rose of Tralee.

The Roses representing 28 counties in Ireland as well as major cities in USA, Canada, Europe, UAE and Britain will take part in the regional selection process at the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel on the 4th, 5th & 6th of June.

Oliver Hurley, General Manager of the Rose of Tralee International Festival, said: “We are excited and honoured to return to Portlaoise once again where we know a céad mile fáilte awaits each of our Roses. In particular this year, we look forward to welcoming the Roses who have travelled to Portlaoise from Irish communities around the globe. We know that they will have the time of your lives, and that their family and friends will have a wonderful festival experience in the midlands. This is our fourth year in Portlaoise and we are looking forward to another great international event.”

It will come as no surprise to anyone that each Rose possesses her own individual charm and talent ranging from dancing for the Queen of England, singing for President McAleese to participating in a TV game show. There are also sporting champions, professional and academic success stories while many Roses engage in voluntary work in their regions.

The judging panels will have the unenviable task of selecting 23 of these 51 fragrant Roses to represent their centres in Tralee in August and maybe become the 2011 Rose of Tralee.

Apart from the all-important selection nights the weekend Festival will feature a whole range of family fun events including the Gordon Bennett Irish Classic Car Run which is open to all vintage veteran and classic cars, motorcycles and commercials registered prior to 1980.

“The International Rose of Tralee Regional Finals will form the perfect backdrop to a wonderful midsummer Festival in Portlaoise. We are most grateful to Laois Tourism, Laois County Council, the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel and the entire local business community for their hospitality. The reigning Rose of Tralee, Clare Kambamettu, will be among the guests of honour at a Civic Reception on Friday June 3rd,” said Oliver Hurley.

The International Rose of Tralee Regional Finals will be held in Portlaoise from June 3rd to 6th, while the 2011 Rose of Tralee International Festival will be held in Tralee from 19th to 23rd August.
