Charities and the Temporary VAT Rate Change

If you’re a charity operating in Ireland, you should know that the standard rate of Irish VAT will be temporarily reduced from 23% to 21% for a six-month period from 1 September 2020 to 28 February 2021. This is the first change to the standard VAT rate in Ireland since 2012 (when the rate increased to 23% from 21%).

Charities can’t claim back VAT paid, so this will result in a 2% saving on any website design and development work undertaken and paid for during September to February. There are also a number of grants available during the Covid-19 pandemic that could go towards such work.

Contact Modus at hello@modus.ie if you’d like to avail of this cost saving and talk about getting some work done.
